17th Congress of the Fédération internationale des associations d’études classiques will be hosted by the Polish Philological Association (PTF – Polskie Towarzystwo Filologiczne, Societas Philologa Polonorum) at the Institute of Classical, Mediterranean, and Oriental Studies, University of Wrocław, Poland from 7th to 11th July 2025.
The Programme Committee would like to cordially invite proposals for panels and posters. As at previous FIEC Congresses, we would like to feature as wide a range of themes as possible in order to reflect the breadth of traditional and non-traditional classics, including but not limited to Greek and Latin literatures of all periods, linguistics, ancient history in its widest sense, philosophy and religion, art and archaeology, and Neo-Latin and Byzantine studies, as well as the reception of classical traditions.
The official languages of the Congress are English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Latin.
Panels
Each panel will be of 90 minutes duration. We anticipate that each panel will consist of 3 short papers united by a common theme. Each paper should not exceed 20 minutes and will be followed by a 10 minute discussion.
Additionally, we offer the option of presenting six papers in double panels. If you desire to submit such a substantial panel, please reach out to the organizers directly.
Each panel proposal should include a title for the session, the names and affiliations of all speakers, and an abstract for each paper and for the panel as a whole. Abstracts should not exceed 200 words (not including bibliographical references) and should clearly state the research questions, approach, method, data, and (expected) results.
Panel proposals should be submitted via the Panel Submission Form or sent to fiec2025@ptf.edu.pl. Please note that we are not inviting proposals for individual papers. The deadline for submissions of double panels is 31st May 2024, whereas for single panels: 15th July 2024.
Posters
The Programme Committee would also like to invite proposals for posters. Posters may present individual or collaborative projects. Proposals for posters should include a 150 word description of the subject. We consider posters an excellent way for individuals whose work does not fit into panels to participate, and we particularly welcome proposals from those not usually able to participate in international conferences.
Poster proposals should be submitted via the Poster Submission Form or sent to fiec2025@ptf.edu.pl. The deadline for submissions is 15th July 2024.

All proposals will be peer-reviewed. The Programme Committee expects to make its selections in October 2024. During this period people who have submitted proposals may be contacted for clarification or to suggest changes to proposals. The Committee’s decisions will be final. Once the presenters have been notified about the result of the selection, the registration fee must be paid for their participation to be confirmed.
Once proposals for panels or posters have been accepted, each participant will be requested to fill in a Personal Registration Form. We will be glad to issue formal invitations to those who need them, either to satisfy institutional regulations or visa requirements. We aim to have all of the above completed by 1st December 2024 and earlier if possible.
The registration fee is EUR 200 per participant (EUR 170 for students and PhD candidates) and includes conference materials as well as lunch and coffee breaks. The banquet fee will be collected as a separate charge for those who wish to attend the event.
Unfortunately we will not be able to provide funding for travel and accommodation. Suggestions for accommodation and cultural attractions will be published in due course on the conference website.
